La Scrittura Street: May 2020

Tomorrow is gonna be exactly 3 months we're in this quarantine period due to the Coronavirus and starting the 3rd week of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). Since the CMCO was implemented, I started to work at the office again but we're doing rotation and my turn to go to the office is on Monday and Thursday every week. The office hour also was shortened to 9.00am - 2.00pm only. I found that the new normal we have to live in made major changes in my daily routine and I wanna share it with you guys.

Since it's the Ramadhan, and I'm living with my family, I wake up as early as 4.30am to prepare for Suhur. If it's my turn to go to the office, I will be straight preparing to go to work after Subuh since it's gonna be 1 hour and 30 minutes journey to the office. I'll make sure I arrive at the office by 9.00am and would check out from the office exactly at 2.00pm. I usually would arrive home around 3.30pm to 4.00pm and I will take a nap as I'd be exhausted from the long drive.

If I won't be working that day, I would sleep again after Subuh, usually, it's 1 hour after I perform my prayer. During that hour, I would watch youtube or shows or scrolling my social media to stay awake. I would wake up again at around 10.00am. If I wake up any later, I will be so lazy to be productive for the day and I will be sleeping the whole day, which is not good. So I make sure I wake up the latest by 10.00am.

After refreshing myself, I would first clean the house, especially the kitchen, then starting to do my works. My works included my study assignments which are due very soon and my office works that I bring home. As a typical lazy girl as I am, I didn't spend much time doing my works no matter how slow I'm going to finish them all. I always lose when battling with procrastination (Lya 0 - 1 procrastination).

By 3.00pm, I would take a nap, or rather it's not really a nap, but it's a very long and deep sleep. Not gonna disclose at what time I would be waking up, it's just embarrassing myself, but by 6.00pm I would be in the kitchen to help my mom prepare Iftar for the family. The one thing I feel blessed during this quarantine is my family pray Isyak and Tarawih together. It's the 24th of Ramadhan and we never missed a night to pray together, Alhamdulillah.

Finally, night time is my favourite of the day. If I'm still in the mood, I will continue doing my works, but if I'm not, which usually that's the case, I would be watching Kdrama or youtube videos or reading or sketching, basically doing everything I love, for example, tonight I'm writing this post. If I will be working the next day, I make sure to be sleeping by 10.00pm but if it's off-day tomorrow, this doing hobby of mine could go up till the time for Suhur.

I hardly go out if there's nothing important for me to so this is basically my quarantine routine. Actually, I feel like I'm more productive during this quarantine, maybe because I have more free time in my hand. But no matter how much I love having more free time, I do miss the normal days a lot, especially to hang out with friends and to go travelling.

Did you guys notice the changes in blogger setting? I just noticed it when I wanted to write this post. I'm still getting used to it but I love the changes, looks more professional and minimalist. Anyway, it's been less than a week I got my complete set of iPad and Apple Pencil so I'm still in the phase of exploring it none stop, even neglecting my works, tehee.

I've been watching iPad tips videos now, mostly on digital journaling, note-taking and drawing. So as typical as I could be, I made one too. I made a digital diary and my dream board for now. Along the process, I realized I love doing it, I love creating it. Also since it's something pleasing to my eyes, it made my heart full and satisfied with the product.

This is my dream board, basically my life bucket lists. I first created the background template on Procreate and uploaded it on Goodnotes 5 to compose the board. I love pastel pink and purple colour so I made the board from those colours. I actually redraw most of the stickers such as the map, iPhone, money, etc. It was a long process for a beginner like me but I love it! I set the board to be my iPad's wallpaper so whenever I look at the screen (which I always do), I'll be reminded of my dream so hopefully, I would strive to achieve them all, no matter how long it'll take. I also made a portrait one and made it as my phone's wallpaper.

Here is my digital diary. Though it's a diary, it's nothing to hide so I'm sharing it here. I first made the background template, literally, only the lines and background of all the remaining months with different colours on Photoshop before uploaded it on Goodnotes 5 to compose the diary. I initially wanted to make April's diary to share with you guys but I gave up as I couldn't remember what I did each day, and I was lacking on photos for it so I did May instead and it's ongoing.

Having architecture as my background, I couldn't help but follow fellow friends and other architectural related accounts on social media as art is one of my interests. Nowadays these people started to venture into digital drawing, including my best friend. I once tried drawing on her iPad using the Procreate app and it sparked my interest to own one, to try digital drawing.

I initially wanted to buy a cheaper tablet option but since most of my friends recommended iPad and Procreate only available on Apple product, I decided to just buy it. I actually wanted to buy at a physical store but I lost my chance since RMO was implemented and I couldn't wait for RMO to end so I purchased it online.

I purchased the iPad and Apple pencil at two different stores, iTworld and Switch because iTworld didn't have Apple pencil in their stock while Switch didn't have an iPad. iTworld used GDex for their courier while Switch used DHL. I purchased both items on Sunday last week, and I got my iPad on Tuesday while my Apple pencil was delivered only today.

Before I decided to buy the iPad and Apple pencil online, I always have doubt and worried the items might get cracked or broken since they're electronic devices so they're fragile, I even did so much research reading people's experience on buying electronic devices through online. Upon receiving the items, I loved how meticulous iTworld and Switch did the packaging. I received the items in good condition.

Switch even included a thank you note, which I'm delighted of.

I tried my first writing on iPad today, looks like I need more practices!

I got myself an iPad 7th Generation, 128gb WiFi only in Rose Gold colour at RM1,779 while the Apple Pencil 1st Generation costs RM419. While browsing through iPad video reviews, I found that people love to do digital note-taking too. I immediately installed the Procreate and Goodnotes 5 app which costs me RM39.90 and RM34.90 respectively.

I will give a review on these items in the future, at least maybe after 6 months or a year using them. If you guys have any tips on iPad, do share with me!
