How I Do A Blog Post

I've been blogging since 2009 so this year marks my 11th year being in the blogosphere. As you can see now, I don't have a particular niche, I write about whatever comes to mind, by the categories I stated in this blog - personal, lifestyle, blogging, architecture, travelogue, review -. It's been a while since I last wrote on a blogging label post so I figured why not write one. I've been watching on lifehack videos nowadays, mostly on how-to videos so I've been thinking of why not sharing on how I do a blog post.

Device used
I'm the kind that would do a draft outline for the blog content so the draft outline mostly was written on my phone, but sometimes on my laptop, while the actual content I write using my laptop. I love the keyboard sound while writing so much. The laptop I'm using is ASUS VivoBook 13 inch which I just bought about a month ago while my current phone is Oppo F7.

How I Write On My Blog

Ideas and draft outline
I always remember what Aida Azlin said; for her to keep having ideas is by being consistent. I tried that, obviously failed miserably but I still continue in doing that sometimes. Anyway, in order to write a blog post, I brainstorm for ideas, jot down which ideas came in mind and just create the 'new post' to save as draft first.

Then I would begin writing the draft outline for the content (I don't know if it's the right term, but refer to my desktop photo below for how I do the draft outline). Actually, it's just recently that I started writing a draft outline before writing the actual content. I find this method is very efficient as it helps to keep my ideas and it eases my writing.

How I Write On My Blog

If I have multiple draft posts, I would write the draft outline in blogger, in the draft post itself. But sometimes I write the draft outline on a sticky note on my desktop as shown in the photo or if I wasn't on my laptop, I'll write on my phone. I would delete the draft outline after I publish the post, what's the use anymore, right?

Blog content
When the draft outline is finalized, I would start writing the content. As English is not my forte, I use Grammarly to help my writing. After finished writing, I would preview my post to see how it will look like and read the content several times to check on the grammar, spelling and words suitability until I'm satisfied, only then I would publish the post. Then I would read the post again one last time after publishing it.

Photos used
As you can see I rarely took photos for the blog, I mostly use stock photos and edit them in PowerPoint to put the title overlapping the photo. My most favourite websites for free stock photos are pixabay and pexels. I do use my own photos sometimes though I'm the laziest person to do that. When I use my own photos, I edit them using Adobe Lightroom on my phone or Adobe Photoshop on my laptop.

The overall process of publishing a blog post could go for a day or two, depending on my eagerness to publish it. Basically, that's all that I do to write a blog post. I hope my sharing would benefit you in any way, especially for you guys who are new to the blogosphere.

So how do you guys write your blog post?

Till then,
Lya

  4. You are quite an organized person. As for me, I main taram je. Whenever I feel like writing a blog post, I write. If I don't feel like writing, I do not write at all.

    1. I'm not usually an organized person, I'm trying to be, especially during this RMO since I got plenty of time for that. But thank you anyway, I'll take that as a compliment :)

  5. Thanks for sharing.

Normally I would note down all my ideas on my phone first. Then began writing. I proof-read few rounds.

Basically writing should be no problem but finding the ideas are so difficult.

  7. I actually really love this post! I have something new to learn as well. Usually when it comes to writing up a blog post, I start off with designing the blog banner for that post first. It's just a great way for me to feel even more motivated to write and as I'm designing it, I build on ideas on what I;m hoping to write. Then, I'd make a draft as well! I can do spontaneous writing but most of the time, creating an outline helps me to see where my ideas go. hehe Anyway, happy fasting! Thanks for sharing your blog writing routine!

  10. Hi! It's been a while since the last time I visited this blog! (kinda busy doing idk hahah). As for me, I would never come out with notes like you did. I will just spontaneously write anything that comes into my mind. That shows why your blog posts are quite fun to read! :')

  13. I always come out with a title first - it get easier from that because I am the type who cannot write with an outline. I will just fail miserably lol. I guess, thats the reason whenever I write, I rather had it done straight away no matter how many hours the tab would stay open ehe. Weirdly, I am not taught that way in my course, it is the other way around.

I do notice though, outline helps in making the content more organize. Maybe, I should just give it a try, again and consistently.

    1. I used to write the title and just write whatever for the content too before. But I found that writing gets easier when I write outline first. You should give it a try!

  14. I make drafts as well :D hehe sometimes, I feel better to connect ideas that I have jotted down instead of bluntly typing everything.

But, when I was eager to share something, I can write the whole thing in one sitting :)
