Hi.
It's been a long time since my last review post. I have so many places and experiences I want to write a review post about here. Tambuna Retreat in Ipoh has been on my wishlist since it opened last year. I especially love having a staycation in an exclusive, comfortable setting while still being surrounded by nature. Finally, my husband and I got the time to stay there in August 2026.
Ice cream as a welcome drink
The retreat is located far in a quite secluded area. The area was not that big; maybe there's future development planned, but for now there're only 22 units available. Hence, the booking rate is high; I had to book two months in advance.
Most hotels or resorts serve a welcome drink while we wait for check-in, but Tambuna Retreat served ice cream, which was a pleasant surprise for me; it was delicious too! The check-in process wasn't that long, and then we were brought to our room using a buggy. The buggy is an option; you can just walk. The rooms weren't that far anyway.
Deluxe King Room
We booked a Deluxe King Room from its website at RM488.00 per night. The room was very spacious, equipped with a private bathroom and an outdoor yard. I specifically requested that our room be the one in front of the swimming pool, and they arranged that for us. I think it's maybe on a first-come, first-served basis, and having the swimming pool right in front of our room was the most exciting part of this staycation.
There's not much to do at the retreat. We spent most of our time taking a stroll and enjoying the magnificent view of the surroundings. There's also a gym for fitness activities and a children's room if you bring children.
No Room Service (In-Room Dining)
The only downside for me was that there was no room service for dinner, but they do sell Maggi cups. My husband and I decided to order from Foodpanda instead. The breakfast served buffet-style had options for rice, noodles, and bread. The breakfast wasn't that varied in choices too if you're someone that look forward for hotels breakfast, but it was good enough for me.
The top tier of the retreat was the hospitality from the staff. Since the very beginning, I got an email reminding me about the staycation. All the receptionists I encountered were very friendly and had a smile on their faces whenever we met. A thank-you email was also sent to me after our check-out.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay here and definitely will repeat in the future.
Would you consider Tambuna Retreat as your staycation destination?
Till then,
Lya.
