Hi.
I was born in 1993, so I'm part of the generation that grew up when gadgets were for the rich, and we did everything ourselves, without the internet. Fast forward to 2026, and we have self-driving cars, the internet where all the information is, and AI that can produce believable fakes. Enrolling in a PhD at this time really helps with writing my thesis, to the point that I questioned how I could graduate with a degree and a master's without AI back then.
But I don't feel like using AI while writing on this blog; it just seems wrong.
I've always said that I started this blog as a hobby, which is what I do for fun, for my own interest, and it continues that way till today. I don't want AI to ruin the fun, especially given how stiff AI can be. I'm not saying I'm any better at writing an interesting post, but most AI-generated content is stiff. Besides, most people can detect an AI-generated post, which might be a turn-off for a reader.
Sometimes, having procrastination about writing or have writer's block that makes you not update your blog, AI might help. AI can generate tonnes of blog post ideas, even ones that you never thought of writing. But I would rather update once a year than have people read my blog that is not my original idea, and it will not be as enjoyable to write what AI initially did.
However, I'm not condemning bloggers who use AI for a blog post. It's a you-do-you situation. I believe you don't post 100% AI content; all AI content would need revision. Even wanting AI to help would require you to make the first move with a prompt. Hence, the blog post is still yours, and I would still read such posts, especially if your AI content revision makes it more interesting.
I'm saying this because it's just me trying to avoid AI in my blog posts for now, and hopefully forever. Also, I hope my non-AI-content blog posts are interesting enough for my readers.
So, do you use AI in writing your blog post?
Till then,
Lya,
