Cameron Highlands At Midnight

It always feels great to have a break in the middle of the week and that's what happened last week. Since Perak celebrate Thaipusam so it was a public holiday on that day which was last Wednesday. So on Tuesday night, my friend, Zana and I went to watch The Maze Runner: The Death Cure at 9.00pm and the movie ended around 11.00pm. As an avid fan of the series, I still can't get over the movie, will review about it on another post.

We had no other plan so we went home straight after the movie but at the same time our other friends suddenly called and brought up the idea to go to Cameron Highlands. Though we were shocked at the sudden plan, we were hyped about it. The boys insisted departing right at that moment, it was 12.00am because they wanted it to be cold enough to see our breath outside and it could happen only before dawn. We argued and were contemplating a bit but eventually, we departed from Ipoh at 1.00am.

We arrived at Cameron Highlands around 3.00am and went straight to a Mamak restaurant (I can't remember its name) at Tanah Rata. The boys got their wish as it was very very cold and we could see our breath when we speak. We regretted for not bringing our sweater with us. Since we got nowhere to go, we had roti canai for supper and stayed at the restaurant for two hours and went to Masjid Abu Bakar for Subuh prayer at 5.00am.

Our initial plan was going straight home after Subuh prayer but the boys, especially the one who drove was too tired so they slept for quite some time. We went for breakfast around 8.00am at a nearby stall and after having breakfast we stopped at a few areas where it's worth for a group photo, significantly showed that we went to Cameron Highlands.

Then we went to the morning vegetables and fruits market located in the Kea Farm area along the road to Rose Centre. Maybe because it wasn't weekend nor a long public holiday, there weren't too many people and we could take our time visiting the market. I forgot to take photos of the morning market so here's a photo from Google.

The highlight of the short trip was at BOH Sungai Palas Tea Centre. To go to the tea farm, we had to drive along a very narrow road going uphill. Fortunately, everything was smooth and we arrived the tea farm around 10.20am. We had to walk up the uneven stairs for about 5 minutes to reach the building at the top. The building consists of a cafe, a shop where they sell their products and an exhibition gallery.

We didn't stay long at the cafe area as we decided to not have a meal there and we went shopping for tea at the shop and went viewing at the exhibition gallery. The tea farm surely has an amazing view of nature so I think it's a must visit place if you went to Cameron Highlands. We spent about an hour at the tea farm before went down at 11.30pm. We stopped at the big welcome signage of Cameron Highlands before reaching Ipoh to take photos of it. We had lunch in Ipoh and reached home around 2.00pm.

And that's the end of my awesome, unexpected trip last Thaipusam public holiday.

Actually, the five of us wanted to go to Cameron Highlands since November but we couldn't do a proper travel plan for it so the trip never happens until last Wednesday. I couldn't believe that apparently, we don't really have to plan a proper trip and an impromptu trip will always be a better one.

Till next trip,
Lya.
